Sometimes it feels like everyone hates AI. Other times, like everyone loves it. (Usually depends on which group chat I'm reading.) But in most workplaces, it's more of an interesting mix. And if you want your team to use AI more, you've got to understand where everyone is actually coming from.
Every team has a cast of characters
Most teams have someone who's skeptical for genuinely good reasons — and will dig in harder if you push. Someone who's overwhelmed and can't possibly think about adding anything else. Someone who's already figured out a bunch of useful stuff and is keeping it to themselves. And someone who built a real craft and isn't sure where they fit anymore.
None of these people need the same thing.
The personas behind adoption
Rachel Marcuse and I have been mapping out the AI personas we're seeing most across organizations — and what each one actually needs to move forward. (Hint: Almost none of them need to hear their CEO or ED bring up the topic again on an all-hands.)
The skeptic needs to be heard, not steamrolled. The overwhelmed person needs space, not another mandate. The quiet power user needs a stage. And the craftsperson needs to see how AI makes their work better, not obsolete.
Join us on March 24th
We're hosting a free Alongside webinar on March 24th at 2pm ET / 11am PT called "AI Adoption Is Personal. Here Are the Most Common Personas." We'll walk through these personas and what each one actually needs to move forward.
Should be fun, by webinar standards. ;-)
